Back by popular demand, we are returning to explore Sun Valley, Idaho, the world-famous ski resort celebrated in song and movies for its gorgeous setting and fabulous skiing.  You will have access to Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain, providing lots of terrain for experts and beginners and everyone in between.  We will be staying at the lovely Limelight Hotel in downtown Ketchum, close to many restaurants and bars, and a short free shuttle ride to the slopes and to downtown locations.

Skiing at Sun Valley

An average of 172 inches of snow falls annually at Sun Valley, which is also supported by extensive snow making operations to provide excellent ski conditions.

Bald Mountain

  • The larger and better known of the two resort mountains comprising Sun Valley, Bald Mountain boasts 14 lifts including a gondola and 7 high speed quads, and over 2,000 skiable acres for you to enjoy! It’s better known as “Baldy” within the resort.
  • Difficulty breakdown is 36% beginner, 42% intermediate and 22% advanced/expert.
  • 65 diverse trails and 3,400′ vertical feet offer adventure for all skiers and boarders.

Dollar Mountain

  • A very short distance from Baldy is the far more gentle Dollar Mountain. Traditionally this mountain hosts beginning skiers and beginning ski and snowboard lessons. Dollar Mountain is also noted for it’s terrain parks, some of the best in North America.

Lodging

Lodging will be at the lovely Limelight Hotel in downtown Ketchum.  Accommodation will be in two-person hotel rooms that include high-speed wi-fi, 55-inch TVs, wet bar with refrigerator, coffee machine, humidifier and in-room safe.  The hotel provides an on-call guest shuttle service around town, as well as to the ski mountains.

The Ketchum Hotel has a heated outdoor pool and hot tubs, and a fitness room, open 24 hours a day.  The hotel provides a convenient ski storage area.  Spa services can also be arranged at the front desk.  There is a Happy Hour from 3-6 pm daily in the Lounge and live music during the week.

A hearty breakfast buffet is provided from 7am to 10am, where you can gather in a casual atmosphere to fuel up and make plans for the day.  The buffet includes locally made pastries, yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, bagels and pancakes.  As well, the hotel offers hot breakfast staples, such as eggs, bacon, steel-cut oats. French toast, sausage and veggie fritatas on a rotating basis.

Trip Options:

  • You can make your own flight arrangements. The cost of the trip without airfare is $1,680.
  • Single room supplement. Upgrade to a single room for an additional $1,481 per person.
  • Ikon Pass lift tickets can be booked through Sports America website. Contact your trip leader to get the password. The Ikon Base Pass is not sufficient to ski at Sun Valley.
  • You can also purchase Group Lift Tickets for Sun Valley on the trip registration site. The price is:
    • 4 day: $624
    • 5 day: $768
    • 6 day: $908
  • Travel insurance is highly recommended. You can purchase travel insurance through Sports America or from wherever you purchase your insurance.

Payments:

  • Initial Deposit due on registration: $500
  • Second Payment due on Oct. 1: $750
  • Final Payment and balance due Dec. 1

  • Membership in the Chagrin Valley Ski Club is required for this trip.
  • We have arranged a convenient payment plan for this trip, although full payment can be made at any time.  (See above)
  • PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD: Upon completion of your registration, your guest profile page will include a link to make your deposit. Failure to complete the payment within 15 minutes will result in automatic deletion of your registration. Sports America accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover, Check, or Money Order. A 3% fee will be added to all credit card payments.

  • Failure to make proper payments by the due dates will automatically be considered as a request to cancel, and the stated cancellation policy will apply.

Cancellation policy: 

  • All requests for changes, cancellations or refunds must be made in writing to the trip leaders.
  • All deposits are non-refundable unless a replacement participant is found; either by the person cancelling or from a waiting list.
  • Cancelling individual may be reimbursed for the trip up to the amount paid less any unrecoverable expenses from vendors.
  • Cancellation at any time will result in the loss of travel insurance premium, credit card fees and $25 cancellation fee.
  • Airline ticket and Ikon pass are subject to their own cancellation policies.
